Alex Vincent Medina Plays A Horny Priest Who Forays Into Murder In 'Angustia'

ALEX VINCENT MEDINA won last year’s Cinema One best actor award for “Palitan” as Mara Lopez’s delinquent husband. This year, his entry is Director Kristian Cordero’s “Angustia”, where he plays the role of a Chinese-Spanish priest who falls in love with a native girl while assigned in Bicol in the 19th century. Will he win the trophy once again?

“I don’t know, sana,” he says. “My role is really challenging. Mahirap gawin kasi I was made to memorize all my lines in Bicolano, Spanish, Chinese and Latin. Grabe rin ang internal conflict ng character kasi he wants to be faithful to his vocation but then, na-seduce siya ng babaeng ito played by newcomer Mitchelle Smith. Dahil dito, he becomes paranoid and is pushed to the extremes, putting his life at stake.”

Aside from “Angustia”, which was shot on location in Bicol, Alex is in another entry, “Shift”, where he gives support to Felix Roco. A few months ago, he also got a lot of praise for his acting in Cinemalaya’s “Babagwa” and as the long lost son of Cherry Pie Picache in “Ina Kapatid Anak”.
