Feel Good Movie 'No Boyfriend Since Birth' Had A Successful Premiere Night At SM Megamall Last Sunday

HE PREMIERE night of “No Boyfriend Since Birth” at SM Megamall last Sunday was packed to the rafters. Mother Lily and Roselle Monteverde are both very pleased because the audience was very responsive and really laughing out loud in so many sequences of this feel good romantic comedy. Director Joey Reyes has come up with many hilarious scenes aimed to really please the viewers.

The movie is focused on Carla Abellana as Carrie, a wedding coordinator who has organized so many nuptials when she herself has never had a boyfriend because she still carries a torch for her high school crush, Tom Rodriguez as Carlo. After ten years, they meet again and Carla, who has thought that she has moved on, realizes that she’s still secretly in love with Tom after all these years.

Carla is in almost every scene and she does pretty well as the lovelorn heroine. Tom registers as a real heartthrob and hunk du jour so you won’t be surprised why Carla is so enamoured with him. The movie is generally well acted, first and foremost by Mylene Dizon as Carla’s boss from hell who they secretly call Maleficent and who’s as fierce as Meryl Streep in “The Devil Wears Prada”.

Also giving great support are Bangs Garcia as Carla’s supportive best friend from their high school days, Ricci Chan as Carla’s gay officemate who tries to knock some sense into her head, and Arlene Muhlach and Al Tantay as Carla’s parents. Mike Tan is underutilized and appears in only a few scenes as Carla’s former classmate who’s long been wanting to court her, but he does make his presence felt and we wish GMA would give him better assignments in the future since he deserves it. “No Boyfriend Since Birth” opens in theaters nationwide tomorrow.
