KRIS BERNAL renewed her contract with GMA Network last Tuesday. Kris was the female winner in Starstruck 4. Her male counterpart is Aljur Abrenica, who, unlike her, is not renewing his contract with GMA as he’s so eager to move to another network. In contrast, Kris says she chose to remain a Kapuso dahil “ito yung gusto ng puso ko”.
She’s now topbilling a new afternoon soap, “Impostora”. “I’m very thankful na narito pa rin ako sa Kapuso network at binigyan nila ulit ako ng chance to star in my own soap,” she adds. “Dito naman talaga ako mas comfortable as this is where I grew up so I really feel so satisfied here and contented. After my challenging role as a mentally challenged young mother in ‘Little Nanay’, mas mapanghamon ang papel ko sa ‘Impostora’ kasi I play dual roles, one bad and one good.”
For the characters she’s playing, she’ll have different makeup, different wardrobes, different mannerisms and ways of speaking. “Mahirap ang ‘Little Nanay’ but iisa lang yung role ko roon. Dito sa ‘Impostora’, pabago-bago ako ng hitsura at ng acting for my two characters. I have to wear prosthetic makeup also. Pati paglalakad ko, binago ko to distinguish one character from the other. May scenes nga na kapag pinapanood ko sa TV monitor, di ko na rin makilala ang sarili ko. I ask myself, Ako ba talaga ito? Ha ha ha!”
GMA exec Lilybeth Rasonable says they have no doubt that Kris will be very credible in portraying her two totally different roles. “‘Impostora’ will hone her more as a dramatic actress dahil magkaibang-magkaiba ang atake niya for the two roles. We have seen the rushes and we’re impressed as she’s doing very well, very credible siya in both roles.”
